Ghanaian artiste, Shatta Wale claims he decided not to perform at the 2017 CAF Awards because of breach of contract by the organizers.

“CAF and my team had a different contract…But a few days to the event someone met with my management team to pay them $30,000.” explained Wale to Zylofon FM on Friday, January 5, 2018.

He added that he felt disrespected hence his decision not to perform at the event.

Wale was one of the artistes billed to perform at the Accra International Conference Center yesterday for the 2017 edition of the CAF Awards.

He was unable to perform at the ceremony for what people familiar with the situation refer to us ‘WizKid issues.”

It is said that the friction between the two caused by Wale’s comments months ago contributed to his (Shatta) inability to perform at the event, and also because they could not agree on the performance order.

Ghanaian Singer, Efya was the opening act at the 2017 CAF Awards.

She sang the National anthem of host country, Ghana to begin proceedings for the awards scheme held at the Accra International Conference Centre, on Thursday, January 4, 2017.

Togo’s Toofan, Fally Ipupa from DR Congo, Patoranking, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Phyno and Flavour, all from Nigeria also performed at the event.

The show was ‘closed’ with a performance by Ghanaian act, Kidi.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and other high-profiled personalities.
